Our December Storycafé brings together many voices and stories to shine a light in the darkness of the winter solstice. Hear Indigenous stories of Father Sun, Rama and Sita returning in the light, excerpts from Gilgamesh epic, and more. "Out of the bleak mid-winter, water like a stone, when snow had fallen snow on snow, a long time ago."

Islamic Heritage Month Concert-Café: Stories from the Silk Road…and beyond

On Wednesday October 30, join Storytelling Alberta for a unique event in celebration of Islamic Heritage Month. October was designated as Canadian Islamic History Month by the Government of Canada in 2007 and as Canadian Islamic Heritage Month by the Province of Alberta in 2018. 

The first part of this event will feature storytelling performances that will transport guests to the Silk Road…and beyond, offering a sample of Islamic heritage. The second part of the event will provide the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments, meet new people and engage in dialogue to increase intercultural understanding.
